  A friend & I found this place on a recent visit to North Bend State Park. Stopping at an antique boutique, we asked for a recommendation for dinner. There's not much out that way, but if we didn't mind a "bit of a ride", this place was said to have good steaks. The ride was scenic - and the chances to hit a deer were plentiful - and we rode right past it & had to turn around. It doesn't look much like a restaurant, (it's listed as a market/deli) but it's in the middle of nowhere, & we were hungry, so we stopped. So glad we did! The owner, from a family whose farmstead goes back to the 18th century, breeds his own beef. He also mixes up his own sauces & spices. The (large) rib eye steaks we enjoyed on Friday were only surpassed by the "smoked prime rib of beef" we enjoyed the next night. Yes, I said "prime rib of beef" NOT beef ribs. We both enjoyed a 1# "queen's cut" because we knew we'd never be able to finish the 2# "king's cut". I chose cole slaw & applesauce as my sides so as to save room for the beef. My friend opted for the delicious mashed potatoes & had trouble finishing her beef. I have never had smoked prime rib. Swimming on a platter of "au jus", it was juicy and delicious, and the home-made horse radish sauce on the side was the best I'd ever had. My only regret is that I live 200 miles away & will probably never have the opportunity to enjoy it again. So, if you're visiting anywhere nearby, GO! If you live nearby, why didn't we see you there? The food was great, the service was country friendly, the TV was playing Mayberry RFD, and America's Funniest Videos, and the place was spotless! What's not to love?
